'Athina' by Moodtrap - a 3-track EP of underground house
Moodtrap have built up a considerable head of steam since releasing their debut 'Body to Body' EP late last year. The meaty double header of 'Make It Right' / 'Out Of Time' followed in March cementing their reputation as a name to watch in 2012 & gaining support from the likes of Craig Richards, Tornado Wallace, Franck Roger, Laura Jones and Huxley to name a few. The anonymous duo performed their debut live show at Fabric in London in July to a rapturous response on the dancefloor.
The 'Athina' EP continues to keep the benchmark high with 3 tracks showing different shades of underground house music. Lead cut 'Athina' harnesses a killer groove and bassline so hooky it instantly stands alongside 'Influence' and 'Out Of Time' as one of Moodtrap's most playable tracks. 'Old Days In Chicago' features a choice bluesy vocal sample and EP closer 'Bel Canto' has a more underground slant with shades of Nu Groove & Masters At Work.
